What the forms are for

In its media centre (Mediencenter) the Künstlersozialkasse has a section of its own, „Vordrucke für Mitteilungen mit Auswirkungen auf den Versicherungsstatus“ (forms for notifications affecting your insurance status). It writes: „Wir möchten Sie an dieser Stelle auf die Vordrucke hinweisen, mit denen Sie der KSK Änderungen mitteilen können, die ggf. Auswirkungen auf Ihre Versicherungspflicht nach dem KSVG haben.“ (We would like to point you here to the forms with which you can notify the KSK of changes that may affect your compulsory insurance under the KSVG.)

The „ggf.“ (possibly) matters: the list of forms is not a list of cases in which something changes. Whether and how studies, a pension or a stay abroad affect your insurance is not stated on this page — that is answered by the Künstlersozialkasse or an adviser of your choice. In the same media centre the KSK has published information leaflets on several of these events, for example on a stay abroad, studies, sick pay (Krankengeld), maternity pay and parental benefit (Mutterschaftsgeld, Elterngeld) and the old-age pension.

Two routes: online or on paper

Online in the Bundesportal. From its page „Online-Formulare“ the Künstlersozialkasse links to forms in the Bundesportal (the federal administration portal). Insured members sign in there with a BundID; for that the KSK names „die Online-Funktion Ihres Personalausweises oder Ihr Elster-Zertifikat“ (the online function of your identity card or your ELSTER certificate). „Eine Anmeldung nur mit Benutzername und Passwort ist für die Online-Formulare der Künstlersozialkasse nicht möglich.“ (Signing in with just a user name and password is not possible for the Künstlersozialkasse's online forms.) Receipts and proofs can be uploaded; according to the KSK a form that has been sent cannot be opened or changed again, and a copy is provided as a PDF.
As a PDF by post. The PDF forms can be filled in on a computer, are printed and sent to the Künstlersozialkasse with the attachments they name. The KSK writes: „Bitte denken Sie an Ihre Unterschrift auf dem ausgefüllten PDF-Formular. Diese ist zwingend notwendig, da Sie der Künstlersozialkasse rechtserhebliche Angaben mitteilen.“ (Please remember to sign the completed PDF form. This is mandatory, because you are giving the Künstlersozialkasse legally relevant information.)

The PDF forms for change notifications

This is how the Künstlersozialkasse names the forms on its page „Änderungsmitteilungen“ and in the media centre:

Under „Vordrucke und Formulare“ the media centre also lists the form „Neue Anschrift“ (new address): „Verwenden Sie diesen Vordruck, wenn sich Ihre Kontaktdaten / Adressdaten geändert haben (z. B. durch einen Umzug).“ (Use this form if your contact or address details have changed, e.g. through a move.) For new bank details the KSK names the „SEPA-Lastschriftmandat Versicherte“ (direct debit mandate, for members paying by direct debit) and the form „Änderung der Bankverbindung“ (change of bank details, for „Selbstzahler“ who pay themselves).

The online forms in the Bundesportal

On its page „Online-Formulare“, under „Was möchten Sie mitteilen oder einreichen?“ (what would you like to notify or submit?), the Künstlersozialkasse lists for artists and publicists, among others, with its own examples:

Änderung der persönlichen Daten (change of personal details) — „z. B. Name, Anschrift, Bankverbindung“ (e.g. name, address, bank details)

Under „Was möchten Sie beantragen oder anfordern?“ (what would you like to apply for or request?) the page also lists waiving the exemption from pension insurance as a recipient of a standard old-age pension (Verzicht auf die Rentenversicherungsfreiheit als Regelaltersrentner/-in), with the KSK's note: „Ein solcher Verzicht ist auf Dauer und sollte daher gut überlegt sein!“ (Such a waiver is permanent and so needs careful thought.)

This page reproduces which forms the Künstlersozialkasse offers and how it describes them. Whether a particular change has to be notified in your case, and what it means for your insurance, is a question for the Künstlersozialkasse or an adviser. The annual income estimate (Einkommensschätzung) is separate from this; it goes to the KSK by 1 December.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change my address with the KSK?

The Künstlersozialkasse offers the form „Neue Anschrift“ (new address) for when „sich Ihre Kontaktdaten / Adressdaten geändert haben (z. B. durch einen Umzug)“ (your contact or address details have changed, e.g. through a move). Online, the Bundesportal has the form „Änderung der persönlichen Daten“ (change of personal details), according to the KSK „z. B. Name, Anschrift, Bankverbindung“ (e.g. name, address, bank details).

Does a change notification to the KSK have to be signed?

The signature on the PDF form is, according to the KSK, „zwingend notwendig, da Sie der Künstlersozialkasse rechtserhebliche Angaben mitteilen“ (mandatory, because you are giving the Künstlersozialkasse legally relevant information). For the online forms in the Bundesportal, insured members sign in with a BundID, according to the KSK using the online function of their identity card or an ELSTER certificate.

Can changes be reported to the KSK online?

Yes. From its page „Online-Formulare“ (online forms) the Künstlersozialkasse links to forms in the Bundesportal, where receipts and proofs can also be uploaded. According to the KSK, signing in „nur mit Benutzername und Passwort“ (with just a user name and password) is „nicht möglich“ (not possible) for them.

What do studies, a pension or a stay abroad mean for KSK insurance?

This page does not answer that. The Künstlersozialkasse offers its forms for changes „die ggf. Auswirkungen auf Ihre Versicherungspflicht nach dem KSVG haben“ (which may affect your compulsory insurance under the KSVG), and has published information leaflets on several of these events.
